In the winter months, outside the breeding season, many king parrots disperse from their native forests and visit farms, gardens and parks…sometimes in their hundreds! Up to 18 inches in length, and with huge claws and bills, their size is no handicap when they shoot up tall trees to their nesting sites in hollows.
